1. Square Numbers Ending in 5

This trick is perfect when you're squaring two-digit numbers that end in 5.

Example: (45)²

Step 1: Take the first digit (4)
Step 2: Multiply it by the next number (4 × 5 = 20)
Step 3: Add 25 at the end

Answer: 2025

Try it with: 65², 85²

 

2. Multiply Any Number by 11

This trick makes multiplying two-digit numbers by 11 super easy.

Example: 42 × 11

Step 1: Add the digits: 4 + 2 = 6
Step 2: Place that number between the original digits: 462

Answer: 462

Try it with: 35 × 11, 73 × 11

 

3. Divide Any Number by 5 (Fast!)

This method works best with big numbers.

Example: 1840 ÷ 5

Step 1: Multiply by 2 → 1840 × 2 = 3680
Step 2: Move the decimal one step left → 368.0

Try it with: 1275 ÷ 5, 2345 ÷ 5

Step 1: Add the unit digit of one number to the other → 14 + 6 = 20

Step 3: Multiply unit digits → 4 × 6 = 24
Step 4: Add both results → 200 + 24 = 224
